Puppet Nation ZA, also known as ZANEWS, is a South African satirical TV show that first aired in 2009. It is produced by Both Worlds, an independent production company based in Cape Town. The show is known for its use of puppetry, where puppets based on real-life politicians and public figures are used to satirize the news and events of the day. The show takes a humorous, tongue-in-cheek approach to current affairs and acts as a commentary on the political landscape in South Africa.

The main puppet characters on the show include President Jacob Zuma, Julius Malema, Helen Zille, and Cyril Ramaphosa. The show has also featured puppets of international figures such as Vladimir Putin and Donald Trump.

Louw Venter, Adam Behr, and Nik Rabinowitz are the main performers on the show. Venter, who also voices most of the male puppets, is a well-known South African actor and playwright. Behr, who voices most of the female puppets, is a comedian and writer. Rabinowitz, a comedian and actor, provides additional voices and commentary.

The show has been praised for its intelligent humor and sharp commentary on current events. It has also been criticized by some for its crass and controversial jokes.

Despite this, Puppet Nation ZA has been successful in South Africa and has won multiple awards, including the Golden Horn for Best TV Comedy. It has also been syndicated to other African countries and has gained a following outside of South Africa.

In addition to its political satire, the show also features sketches and musical performances. Regular segments include a news roundup, interviews with puppets of notable figures, and a recurring segment featuring a puppet version of former South African President Nelson Mandela.

Puppet Nation ZA has tackled a wide range of issues, from the #FeesMustFall movement to the Gupta family's influence on South African politics. The show has also been vocal about issues such as corruption, crime, and the state of the media industry in South Africa.

Overall, Puppet Nation ZA is a unique and entertaining take on the news and events of the day. Its use of puppets adds a whimsical element to its commentary on serious issues, making it a beloved and popular show in South Africa.

Puppet Nation ZA is a series that ran for 3 seasons (78 episodes) between November 10, 2013 and on Both Worlds
