Tourist Sauce: Scotland is a travel and golfing series produced by No Laying Up that follows the four-man team, made up of Brendan Porath, Chris Solomon, Neil Schuster, and Tron Carter, as they explore the golfing culture and rich history of Scotland. Each episode in the series features the team embarking on a new adventure, exploring the local culture, and playing golf at some of the most iconic and challenging courses in Scotland.
In the first episode, the team travels to Edinburgh to start their journey. They begin by checking out the local culture and trying their hand at falconry in the outskirts of the city. Next, they visit the famed Donald Ross-designed course, North Berwick, where they get a taste of the Scottish links-style golf that they will experience throughout the series. The guys also visit St. Andrews, the home of golf, and tour the town and local shops before teeing off at the Old Course. They also take a detour to the Dunvegan Hotel, known for its legendary night-time singalongs, where they meet up with some local golfers and enjoy a few pints of beer.
The second episode takes place in the West Coast of Scotland, and the team visits the Isle of Islay, known for its peaty scotch whisky and stunning golf courses. They visit the Bruichladdich distillery to learn more about the process of making their signature peaty whiskey and even get to sample some. The team also visits the Machrie Hotel, where they enjoy a round of golf at the Machrie Links Golf Course, which has been recently revamped with new greens and bunkers. They also visited the Duff House Royal Golf Course, situated on the Spey Bay Wildlife Reserve, before ending the episode on a boat trip along the coast.
The third episode takes the team to the east coast of the country, where they explore the town of Aberdeen and its golf courses. They visit the Trump International Golf Course, which was a controversial project that had enraged environmental activists before it was constructed. The team also explores the history of the Cruden Bay Golf Course, where Bobby Jones played during his grand slam year in 1930. The guys also tour the town of Aberdeen, which has a rich history of the oil and gas industry.
In the fourth and final episode, the guys head to remote locations in Scotland, where they played Portrush, known for hosting The Open Championship in 2019. They also visit the Isle of Jura, an isolated island with only one town and one whisky distillery. The team even takes their skills to the next level by playing a round of golf with the locals at a 9-hole course situated on the island. They also play a round of golf at the Royal Dornoch Golf Course, which is considered one of the best in Scotland.
What sets the Tourist Sauce: Scotland series apart from other travel shows is their deep passion for golf and the unique challenges that it presents. The team travels through Scotland to explore the culture of golf in different parts of the country and show viewers the complex nature of Scottish links-style golf. The team's genuine love of golf and exploration creates a fun and engaging series that will appeal to golfers and travel enthusiasts alike. With stunning cinematography, an engaging storytelling approach, and a lovable cast, this series is a must-watch for anyone interested in golf or Scottish travel.
