ShoBox: The New Generation is a boxing series produced by SHOWTIME that features up-and-coming boxers in their toughest fights yet. The series has been on the air since 2001 and has become a popular platform for young fighters to showcase their skills on a national stage.
On March 10th, 2017, the latest episode of ShoBox aired on SHOWTIME, featuring three exciting matchups in the welterweight, super lightweight, and heavyweight divisions.
In the first fight of the night, welterweight prospect Bakhtiyar Eyubov took on fellow undefeated fighter Maurice Lee. The main event of the evening saw heavyweight prospect Trey Lippe Morrison taking on Italian veteran Daniel Cota. Lippe Morrison, the son of former heavyweight champion Tommy Morrison, came into the fight with a perfect 13-0 record, with all of his wins coming by knockout.
Cota, however, was not intimidated by Lippe Morrison's power and showed a willingness to exchange punches in the center of the ring. The Italian fighter landed some solid shots of his own, but ultimately couldn't withstand the onslaught of Lippe Morrison's punches.
Lippe Morrison scored a knockdown in the third round and then finished Cota off with a ferocious series of punches in the fourth round. The win improved Lippe Morrison's record to 14-0, with all of his victories coming by knockout, and established him as one of the rising stars in the heavyweight division.
Overall, the March 10th episode of ShoBox: The New Generation was an exciting night of boxing that showcased some of the sport's best young talent. With impressive performances from Eyubov, Prograis, and Lippe Morrison, the future of boxing looks bright.
