On June 29th, 2019, SHOWTIME aired a boxing match between two middleweight contenders, Jermall Charlo and Brandon Adams. The fight took place at the NRG Arena in Houston, Texas, and was broadcast live on SHOWTIME Championship Boxing (SCB). Charlo, the 29-year-old champion from Houston, was defending his interim WBC middleweight title for the second time. He had an impressive professional record of 28 wins (21 by knockout) and no losses. His opponent, Adams, was a 29-year-old challenger from California who had won his way into the fight by finishing first in the reality TV show "The Contender." Adams had a professional record of 21 wins (13 by knockout) and two losses.

The fight was scheduled for 12 rounds, with a three-minute time limit per round. Referee Laurence Cole oversaw the bout, with judges Ruben Carrion, Julie Lederman, and Nelson Vazquez scoring the fight.

The first round of the fight saw both fighters feeling each other out and trying to establish their jabs. Charlo looked confident and in control, landing some solid punches and backing Adams up against the ropes. Adams tried to counter with some overhand rights, but Charlo was able to duck and slip out of danger.

In the second round, Charlo stepped up his aggression and landed a powerful flurry of punches that staggered Adams. Adams tried to cover up and recover, but Charlo continued to land heavy shots to the body and head. Adams managed to survive the round, but looked shaken by the onslaught.

The third round saw Charlo continue his assault, landing a devastating right uppercut that rocked Adams and sent him reeling. Adams managed to stay upright, but looked dazed and confused. Charlo started to showboat a bit, raising his arms in celebration and taunting Adams to come at him.

Adams tried to rally in the fourth round, throwing some looping punches and trying to catch Charlo off guard. Charlo, however, remained composed and continued to pick his shots carefully. He landed a big right hand near the end of the round that staggered Adams once again.

The fifth and sixth rounds were more of the same, with Charlo dominating the action and Adams struggling to stay in the fight. Charlo was landing his jabs at will, and mixing in some hard hooks and uppercuts to keep Adams off balance. Adams looked increasingly frustrated and appeared to be losing confidence.

In the seventh round, Adams finally had some success, landing a couple of hard right hands to Charlo's head. Charlo shrugged them off and continued to press forward, but Adams finally seemed to be finding his range. He managed to land a few more solid shots, but Charlo remained unfazed and kept coming forward.

The eighth and ninth rounds saw Charlo take control once again, landing some heavy body shots that visibly slowed Adams down. Charlo was able to counter Adams' punches effectively and land some big shots to the head. Adams looked exhausted and almost ready to go down, but somehow managed to stay upright.

In the tenth round, Charlo unleashed a barrage of punches that had Adams backpedaling and covering up. Charlo landed a big uppercut that sent Adams staggering backwards, but he managed to stay on his feet. Charlo looked frustrated that he couldn't finish the fight, but Adams continued to hang on.

The final two rounds saw Charlo coasting to victory, with Adams looking too tired and battered to mount any serious offense. Charlo continued to pick his shots and land some powerful punches, but didn't go for the knockout. Adams, to his credit, continued to fight until the final bell, but it was clear that he had been thoroughly outclassed.

The judges' scorecards reflected the one-sided nature of the fight, with all three judges giving every round to Charlo. The final scores were 120-108, 120-108, and 119-109, giving Charlo a unanimous decision victory. Charlo successfully defended his title and improved his record to 29-0, while Adams fell to 21-3.

Overall, the fight was a showcase for Charlo's skills and power, as he dominated Adams from start to finish. Despite Adams' efforts, he was never able to mount a serious threat to Charlo's dominance, and Charlo looked like a true champion throughout the fight. The bout was a testament to the quality of boxing that can be seen on SHOWTIME Championship Boxing, and a reminder that the best in the world compete on the network.
