Goliath is a legal drama television series produced by Amazon Studios. The show was created by David E. Kelley and Jonathan Shapiro and premiered on October 14th, 2016. The show is set in Los Angeles and stars Billy Bob Thornton as Billy McBride, a brilliant yet self-destructive lawyer who takes on a wrongful death case against a major corporation.

At the beginning of the series, McBride is a former founding partner of the law firm Cooperman McBride with a reputation for being a ruthless and cunning litigator. However, after a series of personal and professional setbacks, he has hit rock bottom and is now an alcoholic who works out of a motel room.

McBride's life takes a dramatic turn when a young lawyer named Patty Solis-Papagian (Nina Arianda) seeks him out to represent her brother, who died under suspicious circumstances while working for a massive defense contractor named Borns Tech. Solis-Papagian believes the company is responsible for her brother's death and wants McBride's help in suing them.

Initially hesitant to take on the case, McBride eventually agrees after learning more about Borns Tech and their shady business practices. This decision puts him on a collision course with his old law firm and its ruthless senior partner, Donald Cooperman (William Hurt), who is representing Borns Tech.

As the case heats up, McBride's investigation leads him deep into the inner workings of the corporation and the duplicitous actions of its executives. He soon realizes that there is more at stake than just winning the case

Benson (Mariska Hargitay) and Stabler (Christopher Meloni) are called into Cragen's (Dann Florek) office, where a lieutenant from the Internal Affairs Bureau informs them a uniformed cop's wife, Jamie Callahan (Amy Landecker), claims her husband raped and abused her. They question Jamie and she doesn't trust that they'll believe her, so they talk to her husband, Tommy (R.E. Rogers). He denies ever hurting his wife, but while still in the squad room, he attacks his captain. Shortly thereafter, another cop, Wes Meyers (Brian Hutchison), kills his wife and tries to kill himself by putting a gun to his head. There's a connection - both Meyers and Callahan had been in the Army Reserve unit and served in Afghanistan. The detectives wonder if it isn't post-traumatic stress disorder, but Huang (B.D. Wong) talks to Callahan and believes that's not the case.
