Criminal Minds: Suspect Behaviour is a spin-off of the popular crime drama, Criminal Minds. The show premiered on February 16, 2011, and was produced by CBS Television Studios in collaboration with ABC Studios. The show ran for one season consisting of 13 episodes, before it was canceled due to low ratings.
The show centers around an elite team of profilers who work for the FBI's Behavioral Analysis Unit (BAU). The team is led by Special Agent Sam Cooper (Forest Whitaker), who has an unconventional approach to profiling that often puts him at odds with his colleagues. He's a man who's seen it all, and he's determined to do whatever it takes to catch the country's most dangerous criminals.
The other members of the team include Gina LaSalle (Janeane Garofalo), a tough-talking agent who has a reputation for being a rebel; Mick Rawson (Matt Ryan), a former British Special Forces operative who uses his military training to help the team track down suspects; John "Prophet" Sims (Michael Kelly), a former undercover agent who has a gift for reading people; and Beth Griffith (Beau Garrett), a rookie agent who is still learning the ropes.
Unlike the original series, which focused on solving one case per episode, Criminal Minds: Suspect Behaviour features a more serialized format, with each episode focusing on the team's pursuit of a single suspect over the course of several days or weeks.
The cases are often particularly gruesome, with the suspects being some of the most dangerous and twisted individuals imaginable. The team uses a variety of tools and techniques to track down their targets, including psychological and behavioral analysis, surveillance, and undercover work.
The show also explores the team members' personal lives, with each character having their own strengths, weaknesses, and personal demons that they must overcome in order to do their jobs effectively. Sam, for example, is haunted by the memory of his son, who was murdered years earlier, while Gina struggles with addiction.
Despite its strong cast and gripping storylines, Criminal Minds: Suspect Behaviour failed to attract the same level of audience as the original series. Critics also gave the show mixed reviews, with many feeling that it lacked the same depth and character development as its predecessor.
Despite its cancellation after only one season, Criminal Minds: Suspect Behaviour remains a compelling watch for fans of crime dramas, and offers a unique insight into the world of criminal profiling and investigation.
