Bad Guys is a South Korean crime thriller television series that centers around an unlikely team consisting of four criminals who band together under the supervision of a detective to take down other dangerous criminals. The show is directed by Han Dong-Hwa and stars actors Kim Sang-Joong, Park Hae-Jin, Ma Dong-Seok, Jo Dong-Hyuk, and Kang Ye-Won.
The series starts off by introducing the four criminals, each with their own set of skills and strengths. One of the members is a highly skilled hacker who goes by the name of "Ghost," played by actor Kim Sang-Joong. Another member is a con artist named "Goo-tak," played by Park Hae-Jin, who has a vendetta against a notorious crime boss. The third member is a tough and aggressive gangster named "Soo," played by Ma Dong-Seok, who has a soft spot for his fellow team members. Lastly, there is a highly intelligent second generation chaebol named "Jung Moon," played by Jo Dong-Hyuk, who is always one step ahead of his opponents.
The team's initial mission is to take down a powerful drug lord named "Jang Cheol-gi." Goo-tak has a personal grudge against Jang, as his son was killed by him. This is what ultimately led Goo-tak to approach the other three criminals to help him take down Jang. The team's success in capturing Jang triggers a chain of events that lead them to take on other dangerous criminals, ultimately leading to their involvement in a huge conspiracy.
One of the most interesting aspects of the show is the unlikely alliance formed between the criminals and the detective tasked with supervising them named "Oh Gu-tak," played by Kim Sang-Joong. At first, Oh Gu-tak has a deep-seated hatred for criminals, but eventually comes to see the value in working with them to take down the other criminals who are terrorizing the city. The show explores the conflicts, character growth, and evolving relationships between the team members and the detective in a captivating way.
The cinematography, music, and intense action scenes make Bad Guys an exciting show to watch. The show's pacing is well balanced, with each episode containing its own self-contained story but also contributing to the overarching plot. As the team takes on increasingly formidable enemies, the stakes continue to rise, leading to some heart-pumping moments.
Aside from the thrilling action scenes, Bad Guys also delves into the characters' backstories, motivations, and interpersonal relationships. The team members are all complex and flawed, with each of them having a unique set of skills that are crucial to the team's success. The show also portrays the corrupt side of the Korean justice system, as the team's targets often include influential people who are able to cover up their crimes.
Overall, Bad Guys is an excellent crime thriller television series that is well worth watching. The show is well-written, with a strong cast and an engaging plot that keeps viewers on the edge of their seats. Fans of crime dramas and action thrillers would enjoy this show, as it offers both genres in a satisfying package. Even those who are not typically fans of Korean dramas may find themselves captivated by this well-crafted and entertaining series.
