Spaceship is a 2016 science fiction movie directed by Alex Taylor. It follows the story of a group of teenagers who live in a small town in the UK, all of whom are bound by the same desire to explore the world beyond their mundane lives. The movie explores themes such as identity, relationships, and the search for meaning amidst the chaos of life.
The main character is Lucidia (played by Tallulah Haddon), a 15-year-old girl who claims to have been abducted by aliens. The movie opens with her disappearance, and her friends and family begin to worry about her safety. As the investigation unfolds, Lucidia's friends and family discover that there is much more to her story than meets the eye.
Lucidia's mother, Gabriel (played by Alexa Davies), is a single mother who lives with her daughter in a small apartment. Gabriel is a self-proclaimed artist who sells her work online, but her real passion is her daughter. She struggles to come to terms with Lucidia's disappearance, and begins to question her own sanity when she starts seeing strange things.
The other main characters are Lucidia's friends, Alex (Lara Peake) and Dan (Lucian Charles Collier). Alex is an intelligent and rebellious teenager who is determined to uncover the truth behind Lucidia's disappearance. Dan is a shy and sensitive boy who has feelings for Alex, but is too afraid to act on them.
As the investigation progresses, the three friends begin to uncover the truth about Lucidia's abduction. They discover that Lucidia was not taken by aliens, but by someone much closer to home. The movie takes a dark turn when the friends realize the extent of the trauma that Lucidia has experienced, and the lengths to which her abductor will go to keep her quiet.
The movie is visually stunning, with a dream-like quality that reflects the characters' inner turmoil. The soundtrack is equally mesmerizing, with a mix of electro-pop and atmospheric music that creates a haunting and ethereal mood.
One of the most intriguing aspects of the movie is the way in which it explores the nature of identity. Lucidia's disappearance forces her loved ones to confront the fact that they never really knew her at all. They are forced to acknowledge the possibility that their perceptions of her may have been distorted by their own desires and prejudices.
The movie also touches on the theme of relationships, particularly the relationship between parent and child. Gabriel's love for Lucidia is boundless, but her inability to accept her daughter's unique experiences ultimately causes more harm than good. Lucidia's abduction forces Gabriel to confront her own limitations as a parent, and to come to terms with the fact that her daughter is growing up and becoming her own person.
Overall, Spaceship is a stunning and thought-provoking movie that defies categorization. It is a sci-fi movie, but it is also a coming-of-age drama, a psychological thriller, and a meditation on the nature of reality. The outstanding performances by the cast, the beautiful visuals, and the captivating storyline combine to create a movie that is both haunting and unforgettable.
Spaceship is a 2017 drama with a runtime of 1 hour and 30 minutes. It has received mostly poor reviews from critics and viewers, who have given it an IMDb score of 4.0.
