Headgear is an international media channel based in San Francisco, California. It was started in 2003 by Sam Warner. It features digital content based around the actions of adventure, outdoors, and extreme sports competitions. The founder was in school at the university of Santa Barbara when he had the idea to form a production company that documented the exciting actions of his life and of his friends. He was a seasoned climber and constantly went to Yosemite and other nearby places to practice his extreme sport skills. Now, the company has expanded beyond California and serves markets all around the globe by broadcasting content on the internet. The only way for users to access the content is to pay for a monthly subscription.
The shows on the channel include titles such as Parkour Hardcore, The Mountain Man, and Snow Bunny. Parkour Hardcore, for example, follows professional athletes as they attempt to climb buildings and other tall structures with nothing more than their own bodies. The show is advertised as incredibly dangerous and suggests that viewers do not repeat what they see on the show. The Mountain Main features Mike Nimor who is a professional hiker and climber. He surrounds himself with nothing but wilderness and a few basic materials and attempts to survive for one month alone. He videotapes the entire period of time and then the viewer can see his intimate moments. Due to popular demand, the show received permission to continue for another two seasons that will last through 2016.
