This year they're celebrating their fiftieth anniversary and we join them as they welcome day trippers, wedding parties and train spotters.

6. Steam & Scream

As the railway moves into autumn it starts to rely more in events to bring in revenue. The curry train is a popular regular event and the last one of the year is the busiest it's ever been. But the lights on the train's carriages stop working and the event has to go ahead in near darkness.

5. A Grand Show

This week it's full steam ahead for North Yorkshire Moors Railway's autumn steam gala. The event will bring in thousands of steam enthusiasts for the 3 day event but - if it does well - will also bring in much-needed cash as the railway approaches the quiet winter months. It's also an opportunity for the railway to show off to the world

This episode focusses on War Weekend. It's the railway's annual celebration of the part railway's played in the Second World War. As shed boss Piglet says, "It wasn't a nice time for people, but it's a time that needs to be remembered.
