3. Session 3-The Process of Re-enculturation

This segment explains the time and effort it will take to help a former prisoner adapt from prison culture to outside culture. We will recognize the differences between a systemic approach and a programmatic approach and argue for a systemic approach to reentry. We conclude by exploring the seven keys that will make the process successful.

2. Session 2-Understanding Prison Culture

This segment teaches us to acknowledge our hopes and fears candidly about returning citizens, and to appreciate the hopes and fears that prisoners have. We must understand what prisoners experience that is different from civilian life and recognize the factors that lead to reoffending and returning to prison (recidivism).

This segment will help us understand the background for the formation of the Onesimus vision. We survey two approaches to reentry and see what former prisoners truly need as they reenter civilian culture. Through this time we will come to appreciate the powerful effects of cultural differences and recognize the amazing opportunity for your church to have trained, zealous leaders.
