Mikkel just bought himself a new gun prior to coming to Sweden, a so called Bergstutzen. Herbert Schringer from Austria made this beautiful one. It is a double rifle with two different calibres. That is a very versatile solution: He can change to a smaller or larger calibre depending on the situation and the quarry. Moreover, the construction is very light and handy.

The Dane Mikkel Vendelin Olesen is a frequent visitor to Sweden. Especially in the days around August 16th, when the Swedish roe buck season opens. This year, he is in for something special. He is going to hunt at one of Sweden's premier roe deer locations, where excellent genetic stock and skilled management goes hand in hand and secures excellent trophies.

Normally, the rut is most intense in the end of July and the beginning of August. By the 16th, the main rutting season is drawing to an end, and the call isn't always as effective as it would have been a fortnight before. But it is important to keep alert. You never know what will happen next, and Franz-Albrecht keeps his rifle ready for immediate use.
