Professor Balthazar is a children's animated television show that originally aired from 1967 to 1977 in Croatia and later broadcasted in other countries. The show features a kindhearted and inventive professor named Balthazar who resides in the brightly colored town of Balthazargrad, a utopian city where anything is possible.

Professor Balthazar, voiced by Erik Schumann, is a highly intelligent inventor who creates whimsical machines and gadgets to help the citizens of Balthazargrad. With his bright orange hair and round glasses, he is instantly recognizable as the cheerful, eccentric genius who brings joy and laughter to the children who watch the show.

The show follows the misadventures and escapades of Balthazar and his friends, including the bumbling, but well-meaning assistant Cyril, voiced by Zlatko Crnkovic, and the kind and caring nurse Miss Maja, voiced by Nada Agbaba. Together, they navigate the challenges of life in Balthazargrad, from fixing broken machines to helping their neighbors solve problems.

Each episode of Professor Balthazar focuses on a new invention created by the professor in response to a problem faced by the townspeople, whether it's a machine that makes it impossible to tell lies or a wacky contraption that makes it possible to fly without leaving the ground. Professor Balthazar's inventions often have unexpected consequences, and the show uses this as a way to teach children about the importance of problem-solving and creativity.

One of the things that sets Professor Balthazar apart from other children's shows is its unique animation style. The show utilizes a combination of cut-out and cel animation, which gives it a distinct and colorful look. The characters are all brightly colored and highly stylized, with exaggerated features and exaggerated movements that add to the show's charm and whimsy.

In addition to its engaging storytelling and unique animation style, Professor Balthazar is also notable for its emphasis on positive values and social responsibility. The show is filled with messages about the importance of friendship, teamwork, and helping others, and it portrays a world where people are kind, generous, and supportive of one another. At a time when many children's shows were focused on violence and conflict, Professor Balthazar offered a refreshing and uplifting alternative.

Overall, Professor Balthazar is a delightful and charming children's show that has stood the test of time. With its imaginative storytelling, colorful characters, and positive messages, the show continues to captivate and inspire young audiences nearly five decades after it first aired.
