Based on the DC comic characters and co-created by Emmy winner Damon Lindelof, Emmy nominee Chris Mundy, and Tom King, this series follows Green Lantern legend Hal Jordan (Emmy winner Kyle Chandler) and new recruit John Stewart (Aaron Pierre), two intergalactic cops drawn into a dark, Earth-based mystery as they investigate a murder in the American heartland. After receiving a coded message, Hal and John, who's been training his whole life to wear the Lantern ring, head to Rushville, Nebraska, where they come face-to-face with an inexplicable mass shooting - which Hal is certain is an extraterrestrial event. As they set out to solve the case - and with town favor quickly turning against Hal - the Green Lantern's most important mission of protecting the peace faces an increasingly uphill and dangerous battle.

When his dad misunderstands a contact attempt from the Guardians, John is put forth as the next best option to fulfill the Green Lantern destiny. Then, after a lifetime of preparation, John finally gets his chance to interview for the Guardians.

While John's middling errand ultimately proves eventful, Hal makes waves in Rushville – which only inspires him to dig deeper.
