Motorcycling around Japan has worn Scott out, so he spoils himself at a luxurious onsen in the mountains. Exploring the region, Scott meets a swordsmith and a woman who is repopulating her village with scarecrows, before settling down to camp.

Urban Japan offers impressive mechanization of food, from endless vending machines to unique convenience store offerings, but Scott sets out to learn about preparing a traditional Japanese seafood soup - if he can catch the ingredients first.

Following Hiroshima's devastation in World War II, a culture of perseverance and innovation emerged. Scott explores Japanese interpretations of the traditional café culture, motorcycle customization, steak, and even a crazy heavy metal bar.

Having avoided it for years, Scott faces his fear of eating the famous poison blowfish, fugu, but the first chef sends him on a mission to find the perfect condiment in the mountains of Yamaguchi.
