6. The Criminal
Hitler as a criminal: a ruler in the kingdom of the dead, the preacher of a murderous philosophy of life. The manic ultimate goal of his pathological preparedness to use force: "The removal of Jews altogether".
5. The Commander in Chief
Hitler wanted untrammeled power. War was his program. The commanders behavior comes alive in the accounts of former officers of the general staff who had themselves experienced him at the map table.
4. The Dictator
With his seizure of supreme command over the armed forces in 1938, Hitler finally united all power in his person.

In the mid-thirties, Hitler still presented himself in the guise of a friend of peace who was just concerned to achieve an annulment of the oppressive requirements of the Treaty of Versailles. In reality, Hitler use blackmail to gain power.

Hitler had a mastery of playing to the masses like no other politician. Contemporaries who followed Hitler and those who escaped from his spell describe how the seducer was able to succeed in depriving almost an entire nation of its mental faculties.
