City of Men is a Brazilian dramatic television series that premiered in 2002, directed by Paulo Morelli and produced by Andrea Barata Ribeiro. Set in a favela of Rio de Janeiro called Cidade de Deus, the show follows the lives of two teenage boys, Laranjinha (Darlan Cunha) and Acerola (Douglas Silva). Both boys grew up without fathers and are best friends who seem inseparable. However, their friendship is tested as they navigate their way through the dangerous and violent world of the favela.

The series is a continuation of the story of the film City of God, which received international acclaim for its realistic portrayal of life in the favelas of Rio de Janeiro. The show also explores the lives of the boys' families, particularly their mothers. Laranjinha's mother, Tia Jo (Zez
