Orton had demanded a rematch at Battleground, and Mahal accepted, on the condition that the match would take place inside the dreaded Punjabi Prison.
The Punjabi Prison is a steel cage structure made up of two cages, the outer one made of bamboo, and the inner one made of steel. The only way to win the match is by escaping both cages, with the help of four doors that open and close at timed intervals. The anticipation for this match was high, as Punjabi Prison matches are very rare in WWE, having only been held twice before, in 2006 and 2007.
Apart from the Punjabi Prison match, the event also featured a Flag match between John Cena and Rusev, a Fatal 5-Way match for the SmackDown Women's Championship between defending champion Naomi, Charlotte Flair, Becky Lynch, Natalya and Tamina, and a United States Championship match between AJ Styles and Kevin Owens.
The Flag match was a unique concept, where the winner had to grab their respective country's flag and plant it on top of a pole, located at the four corners of the ring. John Cena was representing the United States, while Rusev was representing Bulgaria. The two had been feuding for a while leading up to the event, and this match was supposed to settle their differences once and for all.
The Fatal 5-Way match for the SmackDown Women's Championship was an intense affair, with all five women vying for the coveted title. Naomi had won the championship at WrestleMania 33, and had been defending it successfully ever since.
