While much of the naval attention of World War II was focused on the American efforts against the Japanese in the Pacific Ocean, most people forget that the early stages of the war were fought against Germany in the Atlantic Ocean. The German navy was intent upon cutting off England from the rest of the world and bringing about a surrender that Winston Churchill said would never happen.

The Battle of the Atlantic includes the tales of German U-Boats and submarines that almost brought England and the United States to their knees. Through persistence and innovation, the Allies were eventually able to turn the tide in the Battle of the Atlantic.
