Waris is a classic Bollywood film that was released in 1954. The movie was directed by Nitin Bose, and it featured legendary actors like Talat Mahmood, Achla Sachdev, and Nadira in the leading roles. The film revolves around the life of a devout Muslim family that has two sons, Karim and Hassan. Hassan is the black sheep of the family, who often gets involved in wrongful activities, while Karim is the pride of the family, who is a law-abiding citizen and a devout follower of his religion.

The story of Waris begins with Hassan, who is a notorious criminal, being released from jail. Upon his release, he resumes his criminal activities, much to the dismay of his brother Karim and his family. Meanwhile, Karim is engaged to his childhood sweetheart Jameela, who is the daughter of a wealthy businessman. However, Jameela's father is not too happy about the match, as he considers Karim to be too meek and humble.

One day, Hassan and his gang rob a bank, and the police start to hunt them down. In the ensuing chase, Hassan accidentally kills a policeman, and the police put a bounty on his head. Hassan's gang tries to flee the city, but they are stopped by the police at a checkpoint. In a bid to save himself, Hassan denies ever having met his gang members, including his brother Karim, who was also in the car with him. Karim is arrested and sent to jail on the false charge of abetting a criminal.

In jail, Karim finds out that Hassan has betrayed him and tried to save himself at his expense. He also learns about the hardships of life in jail and how corrupt officials can make life hell for the inmates. However, Karim does not lose hope, and he continues to pray for his release and for his brother's redemption.

Meanwhile, Jameela's father arranges her marriage to a wealthy businessman's son, hoping to get her married to someone who is more financially secure than Karim. However, she is still in love with Karim and believes that he is innocent. She vows to help Karim, and with the help of her father, she seeks the assistance of a top-notch lawyer named Mr. Sinha to represent Karim in court.

The court case is a nail-biting affair, with Mr. Sinha pitted against a shrewd prosecutor who tries his best to prove Karim's guilt. However, Mr. Sinha is a skilled lawyer and manages to expose the flaws in the prosecution's case. In the end, Karim is acquitted of all charges, and he is reunited with his family and Jameela.
