Johnny Mack Brown stars in the 1936 Western film, Valley of the Lawless. Brown plays the role of Steve Jordan, a cowboy who works for a government agency and is tasked with taking down a notorious gang of outlaws in the Valley of the Lawless. The film opens with Steve infiltrating the gang disguised as a wanted criminal. He is soon discovered by the gang leader, Ace Pringle (played by Robert Warwick), but manages to convince him that he is a wanted man named Kansas Jones. Steve is then initiated into the gang and given a chance to prove himself.
As the story progresses, Steve gets closer to the gang members but finds himself conflicted when he meets and falls in love with the gang leader's daughter, Molly (played by Joyce Compton). Molly is unaware of Steve's true identity, and Steve struggles to balance his duty to his agency with his feelings for Molly.
