The Tibet Museum is the youngest museum in China and also Tibet's first museum equipped with modern facilities. The architecture of the museum is a perfect blending of traditional Tibetan style and modern technologies. There is a large collection of antiques, handicraft and the like which have strong Tibetan characteristics. Visitors can see almost every aspect of the history, culture, religion, art and people's life in Tibet there are more than 3 million volumes of dossiers in the Tibet Archive. These dossiers, spanning 700 years since the Yuan Dynasty, cover politics, economics, science and institutions. The archives are primarily in Tibetan and also in Manchu, Mongolian, Chinese, English and Russian. Over the past centuries, culture and education were monopolized by lamaseries in Tibet. Over the last decades, the education in Tibet has embarked on the road towards modernization. Tibet University is the university mainly orientated to training teachers. This program looks at the university as an epitome of higher education in Tibet.
