The movie centers on an advertising executive named Lionel Aldridge from New York City. Lionel has achieved success, but is still feeling unfulfilled and depressed. He is going through a midlife crisis and ends up leaving his family and wife. He then begins to have a series of love affairs that do not help him find any meaning in life either.
