Peter Strange (Michael York) is an idealistic young police recruit who gets mixed up with a tough and jaded Scotland Yard detective (Jeremy Kemp). The inspector is trying to arrest a gang of drug smugglers, and threatens to blackmail Strange unless he plants some heroin on one of the gang. Strange reluctantly agrees, but lands in further trouble when he's the one who gets arrested. Meanwhile, Strange is having an affair with Frederika (Susan George), who is part of a porno ring where her aunt and uncle film her sexual encounters from behind a one-way mirror.
