Hobart Bosworth, the pioneering movie director, writer, producer, and actor stars as John Nelson, a cruel sea captain who has harbored a grudge against humankind ever since his wife deserted him 16 years ago. When Tom Walton is kicked out by his parents for his insidious behavior, he takes a job as a deck hand on Nelson's whaling ship. Tom later picks up a girl and an old man on a remote South Seas island and brings them aboard the vessel where the girl experiences first-hand the captain's cruelty. Between 1913 and 1921, Hobart Bosworth Productions produced a total of 31 pictures, most of which starred Bosworth. The company ceased operations after producing "The Sea Lion."
