In 1962, the Soviets aimed their nuclear missiles at us. We tried to find their launch sites, but the pictures from our spy satellites showed mostly cloud cover. Tom Haig was ordered to design, launch, and operate the world's first operational weather satellite--in ten months. He had no idea what he was getting into.
