Within the Passamaquoddy community, its remaining speakers are struggling to reclaim their lost language. There has been much historic trauma since the Passamquoddy were among the first tribes to experience first contact with Europeans, yet there is a spirit of resilience and a history of emergence and the Passamaquoddy are posed to take back what was taken from them.
