The Experiment is a 2010 thriller movie directed by Paul T. Scheuring. It stars Anthony Fanelli and Brock Powell in lead roles. The movie is based on the novel "Black Box" by Mario Giordano. The story begins with a newspaper ad calling for volunteers for a social experiment. Seventy-five men are recruited for this experiment to be conducted at a makeshift prison in a research facility. Half of the volunteers are designated as prisoners, while the other half is assigned to be guards.

The experiment is led by Dr. Archaleta (Adrien Brody), a charismatic leader who is determined to observe the psychological effects of imprisonment and power dynamics on the volunteers. He believes this experiment will be an ideal simulation for a study on human behavior, leading to new insights on prison reform. The volunteers are not informed about the nature of the experiment, and the guards are given complete authority over the prisoners.

The prisoners, who are stripped of their personal belongings, are forced to wear a uniform and are kept in small cells. The guards are instructed to maintain law and order and treat the prisoners with firmness, but not brutality.

However, things don't go as planned. The guards quickly become authoritarian, using physical force and mental manipulation to control the prisoners. The prisoners, on the other hand, become rebellious and disobedient, leading to a violent confrontation between them and the guards.

As days pass, the situation worsens. The guards become increasingly sadistic, and the prisoners are subjected to harsh punishments, including torture and humiliation. The experiment spirals out of control, leading to a dangerous situation for all involved.

Anthony Fanelli portrays Travis, one of the volunteers who is recruited as a prisoner. He is introduced as a cab driver who is struggling to make ends meet. Travis, who is initially optimistic about the experiment, becomes increasingly anxious and fearful as the situation worsens.

Brock Powell plays the role of the head guard, Chase. Chase a student of criminal justice, thinks of himself as a natural leader who is trying to maintain law and order while dealing with the volatile prisoners.

The Experiment is a thought-provoking movie that raises ethical and moral questions about the use of power and authority. It explores the dark side of human behavior and how easily individuals can be corrupted when given unlimited control over others. The movie highlights the importance of empathy, compassion, and respect while interacting with fellow human beings.

The movie's script is excellently written, and the dialogues are believable and realistic. The performances of the actors are convincing, and they bring the characters to life. The movie's cinematography is skillfully executed, and the use of dark lighting and shadows enhances the film's ominous tone.

Overall, The Experiment is a gripping thriller that keeps the audience on the edge of their seat. It is a reminder that power should always be used responsibly, and the importance of questioning authority when necessary. The movie raises important questions about our society's morality and serves as a cautionary tale about the dangers of authoritarianism.
