The Call of the Wild is a 2020 adventure film based on the novel of the same name by Jack London. Throughout the film, Buck has many adventures, including being attacked by a vicious dog on his team and roaming the wilderness on his own before ultimately finding a new human companion in John Thornton (Harrison Ford). John is a grieving loner who was once a gold prospector but now spends his days drinking and mourning the loss of his son.

Together, John and Buck form a bond that is tested when John discovers a hidden gold deposit and becomes obsessed with finding it. Meanwhile, Buck must navigate the wild Alaskan landscape and protect his human friends from dangerous wolves.

While the film features an all-star cast, including Karen Gillan and Dan Stevens, the real star of the show is Buck, portrayed through CGI animation. The animators did an excellent job of bringing Buck to life, capturing his expressions, body language, and movements in a way that makes him feel like a genuine animal rather than an animated character.
