This Bengali hit is a story about a beautiful songstress named Dipa who finds love in a new place and city. After her parents decide to move to a new house, Dipa finds herself in a new area and her beauty draws quick envy from the wives in the neighborhood. Her neighbors, Renu and Basanti, grow jealous and suspicious of the young girl and conspire to make her leave. Meanwhile, Dipa's parents try to find an eligible suitor for her daughter, but she doesn't like any of the men chosen. As it happens, Basanti has a brother, named Ajit, who takes an interest in Dipa.
