Sweetheart is a horror thriller movie that was released in 2019. Directed by J.D. Another notable aspect of Sweetheart is the creature design. These creatures are creepy and unsettling, with long, spindly limbs and glowing eyes. They move quickly and silently, making them even more difficult to track and evade. There are also some interesting hints dropped throughout the movie about where these creatures might have come from, and what their motivations might be. Without giving too much away, let's just say that the answers are not entirely straightforward.

In terms of pacing, Sweetheart does an excellent job of ramping up the tension and suspense. The first half of the movie is fairly slow-paced, with lots of shots of Jenn exploring the island and trying to figure out what's going on. However, once the creatures start to make their presence known, things really start to pick up. There are some truly terrifying moments, including some jump scares that are sure to get your heart racing. At the same time, the movie also knows when to dial back the horror and let the audience catch its breath. There are several scenes of Jenn trying to survive and take care of herself that are surprisingly poignant and emotional.

Overall, Sweetheart is a tense and atmospheric horror movie that is sure to keep you on the edge of your seat. It's anchored by a strong performance from Kiersey Clemons, who makes Jenn a compelling and relatable protagonist. The creature design is also top-notch, and there are plenty of moments that will have you jumping out of your seat. At the same time, the movie also has a lot of heart, and it's clear that the filmmakers were invested in creating a character-driven horror story.
