At age twelve, Sacagawea was captured by an enemy tribe. Later, she became part of the Mandan tribe and married a French trader. Lewis, Clark, and President Jefferson's Corps of Discovery were finding new plants and animals and drawing them in their notebooks as they sought out tribal nations and delivered Jefferson's message of welcome and peace to them. The Corps settled at Fort Mandan for the winter before recruiting Sacagawea as someone who could trade with the Shoshone and as a guide through the land procured by the Louisiana Purchase.

St. Louis To Ft. Mandan is a 2007 special interest movie with a runtime of 15 minutes.
