Mladen has worked his way up to become a successful judge, but he has always been a lonely bachelor. He couldn't help but want a true romance to take away his loneliness. Every Sunday, Mladen meets up with his best friend Fedji, who is a well-known sculptor, to play chess. However when Mladen falls for Fedji's wife and begins a love affair with her, they find that they are all in a real live chess game where every move affects their lives.
