Heinrich has been losing managerial control of a company for years, with one excessive product order forcing his superiors to retire him. Upon hearing the news, Heinrich's wife and son are worried that their father's joblessness will disrupt the schedule each had adjusted to. Unable to let go, Heinrich tries rearranging the house, purchases mustard in bulk, and even hires a film crew for a reality series, yet each of his attempts backfires horribly. While Heinrich's wife has grown increasingly worried about the state of her marriage, a family visit to her mother's birthday party causes her to reassess things.
