Jeffrey is orphaned due to the death of his father. His Aunt Charlotte in Canada invites the youngster to come live with her but his welcome there may be short-lived. A local development company is trying to get Charlotte's home condemned so that they can use the land to build a ski resort. But Jeffrey encourages Charlotte to ask her friends to help her organize a hunger strike in order to save her home.
