The 2012 Presidential election of the United States was by far the single most expensive presidential race ever held in the country's history. A total of $6 billion was spent on the two respective presidential campaigns. This would never have been possible had it not been for a controversial ruling made by the United States Supreme Court in 2010. The ruling derived from the Citizens United v. Federal Election Commission ruled that government restrictions on how much private donors could donate to presidential campaigns are unconstitutional and should therefore be removed. This has set the precedent for the next several elections.
Moneyocracy is a 2012 documentary with a runtime of 1 hour and 32 minutes.
