Watch Mom

"Mom" is a 2017 Indian crime thriller film directed by Ravi Udyawar and produced by Boney Kapoor, Sunil Manchanda, Mukesh Talreja, Naresh Agarwal, and Gautam Jain. The movie features actress Sridevi in the lead role, along with Akshaye Khanna, Nawazuddin Siddiqui, Adnan Siddiqui, and Sajal Ali in supporting roles. The movie revolves around the life of Devki Sabarwal (Sridevi), a high school biology teacher who is married to a businessman and has two daughters. However, Devki tries to connect and bridge the gap by giving Arya a surprise on her 18th birthday. However, during her birthday party, Arya is kidnapped and ends up getting raped by her classmates. The rest of the film shows Devki's struggle to get justice for her daughter and the roadblocks she faces along the way.

Throughout the movie, Devki is shown as a dedicated teacher who is loved by her students. She is shown to be a very caring mother to her daughters, and even though she has a strained relationship with Arya at the start of the movie, it's evident that she wants nothing but the best for her daughters. When Arya is kidnapped, Devki is heartbroken and wants nothing but to make sure that her daughter gets justice.

The movie does an excellent job of showing the complex emotions and the toll that something like this can take on an individual. Devki is shown to feel helpless and overwhelmed throughout most of the movie. She's enraged that her daughter was a target of something so heinous, and she's frustrated that the law isn't doing enough to help her get justice for her daughter. However, Devki doesn't give up and instead decides to take matters into her own hands.

The supporting cast of the movie does an exceptional job of bringing their characters to life. Akshaye Khanna plays the role of a private investigator who is trying to help Devki find out who the kidnappers are. He is calm, composed, and calculated throughout the movie and adds a layer of depth to the film. Nawazuddin Siddiqui plays the role of a local detective who tries to help Devki get justice for her daughter. He is charming, witty, and brings a lightness to the film that counteracts the heavy themes of the movie. Adnan Siddiqui, who plays Devki's husband, adds depth to the film by showcasing the complex emotions he's going through as he watches the woman he loves struggle to keep her life together.

Overall, "Mom" is a thought-provoking movie that tugs at the heartstrings. The movie is a commentary on the injustices that women face in our society and the lengths that individuals will go to protect their loved ones.
