Love Hunting is a 2019 Chinese romantic drama directed by multiple award-winning director, Luo Luo, and stars Liu Qian Cheng and Jin Po Han. The movie is based on a novel by Zi You Zi, titled "Tong Fu Shi Ai," and explores themes of love, heartbreak, and the many faces of modern-day romance. The movie begins with Shen Wei (Liu Qian Cheng), a young executive at a marketing firm who struggles to balance his career and his love life. He has been dating his girlfriend, Wang You (Zhang Jia Ning), for several years but their relationship is extremely strained. Wang You is very career-focused and doesn't have time for Shen Wei, which has led him to be unhappy and unfulfilled.
In an effort to spice up his love life, Shen Wei decides to hire a love hunter, a service that specializes in finding someone who is perfectly suited to their clients' personalities and preferences. He meets and falls for Xiao Bei (Jin Po Han), a beautiful and charming love hunter who seems to understand him better than anyone else.
As Shen Wei and Xiao Bei begin to spend more time together, they start to develop feelings for each other. However, their relationship is complicated by the fact that Xiao Bei is only doing her job and is not supposed to have any emotional connection with her clients.
Tensions rise as Shen Wei struggles with his feelings for both Xiao Bei and his long-time girlfriend, Wang You. He must choose between the two women and confront the reality of his own shortcomings in love.
The movie takes a deep dive into the complexities of modern-day relationships, exploring the pressure to succeed in one's career, societal expectations, and the paradox of choice, which often leads to indecision and heartbreak. It highlights the importance of communication, honesty, and self-awareness in finding true happiness and fulfillment in love.
Liu Qian Cheng and Jin Po Han deliver compelling performances as Shen Wei and Xiao Bei, respectively, with excellent chemistry between them. Zhang Jia Ning also does a phenomenal job portraying Wang You, Shen Wei's girlfriend, adding an extra layer of tension to the already complex web of relationships.
