Ten-year-old Joe lives in Byblos. Joe's mother makes a mezze, a mixture of dishes, including tabbouleh, vine leaves, kebbe and labne. Later, his French teacher treats him to karabiges, a semolina-based pastry containing pistachios with orange and rose blossom flavoring.
