The movie features Anant Nag, Darshan, Ambareesh, V. Ravichandran, and many more in pivotal roles. The plot of the movie revolves around the Indian epic mythology Mahabharata and the Kurukshetra war that took place between the Kauravas and Pandavas.

The movie begins with the establishment of the Kuru kingdom and King Dhritarashtra's (Anant Nag) ascension to the throne. He is blind and has 100 children, the eldest being Duryodhana (Darshan). Duryodhana is arrogant, egoistic, and selfish, and he hates his cousins, the Pandavas, who are the sons of King Pandu (Arjun Sarja). The Pandavas are more educated, talented, and loved by the people.

Duryodhana becomes jealous and tries to kill the Pandavas several times, but they survive due to the intervention of Lord Krishna (Mohanalal) and other divine beings. The Pandavas are then exiled to the forest for 13 years as punishment for losing a game of dice to Duryodhana.

During their exile, the Pandavas meet several sages and learn valuable lessons from them. When they return after 13 years, Duryodhana still refuses to share the kingdom with them and the war becomes inevitable.

The Kurukshetra war begins, and both sides lose several warriors and family members. The movie depicts various battles in detail, including the Bhishma Parva, Drona Parva, Karna Parva, and others. Lord Krishna plays a pivotal role in the war, and his teachings to Arjuna (Chiranjeevi Sarja) form the basis of the Bhagavad Gita.

Apart from the war, the movie also portrays the relationships between the various characters. The bond between Krishna and Arjuna is shown as unbreakable, and their conversations are enlightening. The relationship between Bhishma (V. Ravichandran) and his mother Ganga (Haripriya) is emotional and heartbreaking. The love story between Abhimanyu (Nikhil Gowda) and Uttara (Sneha) is sweet and romantic.

The music of the movie is composed by V. Harikrishna, and the songs are well-received. The background score is apt, and it adds tension to the war scenes. The cinematography by Jayanan Vincent is stunning, and the visuals are grand and majestic. The production design by Kiran Kumar is impressive, and the sets are realistic.

The performances of the actors are noteworthy. Anant Nag as Dhritarashtra is convincing, and he portrays the character with ease. Darshan as Duryodhana is menacing, and he brings out the negative traits of the character effectively. Ambareesh as Bheeshma is dignified, and his portrayal is one of the highlights of the movie. Mohanlal as Krishna is charming, and his screen presence is magnetic. Chiranjeevi Sarja as Arjuna is impressive, and he delivers a power-packed performance.

Overall, Kurukshetra is an epic historical drama that portrays the Kurukshetra war and the Mahabharata in a grand and majestic manner.
