Kaiser is a Brazilian movie based on the life of Carlos Kaiser, a former professional footballer who played for various clubs in Brazil and abroad without actually playing a single official game. Directed by Luiz Ferraz and co-written by Jorge Assis, the movie stars Bernado de Paula in the lead role and features an ensemble cast of talented actors.

The movie follows the rise and fall of Carlos Kaiser, who was known for his deception and manipulation off the field. Kaiser was a master of deception and used his good looks, charm and wit to win over people and create a persona of a successful footballer. However, in reality, he was a mediocre player who had no intention of playing or training seriously.

The story begins with the young Carlos Kaiser dreaming of becoming a professional footballer, inspired by the likes of Pele and other greats. However, his lack of talent and dedication soon becomes apparent, and he realizes that he cannot make it based on merit alone. Despite this, he is not ready to give up on his dreams and comes up with a plan to succeed in the football world without playing.

Kaiser's plan involves befriending influential people in the football industry, such as coaches, managers, agents, and players, and using them to his advantage. He becomes known as a party animal, a womanizer and a playboy, using his charms to gain access to clubs and parties where he can hobnob with the elite. He also creates a fake injury to explain his absence on the field and starts using unnecessary medical treatments to prolong his absence.

As time goes by, Kaiser's reputation as a player grows, and he begins to receive offers from various teams, which he uses to his advantage to negotiate better perks such as signing bonuses, luxury apartments, and expensive cars. He also hires players and trainers to play and train on his behalf, creating the illusion that he is a skilled player.

However, Kaiser's facade is soon exposed when he is hired by a team that insists on a medical examination before signing him. In a panic, Kaiser hires a doctor to create fake medical records, but the plan backfires when the doctor exposes him. The scandal leads to Kaiser being expelled from the team and becoming a pariah in the football world.

The rest of the movie chronicles Kaiser's attempts to redeem himself and make a comeback in the football world, this time as a legitimate player. He trains hard, puts in the effort and tries to be the player he had always wanted to be. However, his past catches up with him, and he is unable to shake off his reputation as a fraud. In the end, Kaiser loses everything, including his wealth, fame, and even some of his close friends.

Kaiser is a compelling and thought-provoking movie that makes you question the nature of success and the price we pay for it. The film's pacing is excellent, and it keeps you engaged throughout, thanks to a well-written script and solid performances from the cast. Bernado de Paula is outstanding in his portrayal of Carlos Kaiser, bringing depth and vulnerability to a character that is often seen as a caricature. The supporting cast is also excellent, with standout performances from Stepan Nercessian, Julianne Trevisol, and Lui Mendes.

In conclusion, Kaiser is a must-watch movie for football fans and anyone interested in stories of triumph and deception. It is a reminder that success is not always what it seems and that there is often a price to pay for our dreams. The movie raises important questions about the nature of achievement and the lengths we go to achieve it, making it a must-watch for anyone who loves a good story.
