Info Wars is an Austrian documentary film that was written by Fate, directed by Sebastian J. F and produced by Parallel Universe. The movie features Larry Tuxburry, Ricardo Dominguez, Zai, Jon Johansen, Robin Gross, Ray Thomas, Douglas Rushkoff and Hans Bernhard. The story begins with the eToys online store. They are fighting with some artists over the use of the word eToy used in a similar domain name on the Internet. They use a web platform to ask the public to vote for the best bidder. President George W. Bush becomes annoyed that a fake website uses his likeness and voice to make the website statements.
There is much data concerning the various struggles and fighting about information and how it is used. The issues of commercial and political power and how it gets transferred over the Internet is also covered. The goal of every Internet presence, it seems, is to win the most attention of the general public.
The main characters all spend their time fighting against the various corrupt systems and unjust conditions that occur as a result of inadequate information. Some manage to remain true to their vision and develop useful content, while others tend to glut the Internet with bland and boring advertising that is unsuccessful. Nonetheless, it remains on the airwaves regardless of how useful or what results it produces.
The central discourse concerning human freedom within the context of the information age and the future is also addressed. The social context of how information affects every day life is also covered.
Both fake and original characters reflect upon how information affects them, the public and society. This poses questions such as the importance of having more information for the sake of it. For example, is excessive information designed to create confusion or to help. How inauthentic information and inaccuracies can distort outcomes as decisions are made based upon the information at hand is also discussed.
