This movie focuses on Hawaii during the years 1820 to 1841. Max Von Sydow moved to Hawaii and wants the people to adapt to his style of life. His wife Jerusha is trying to learn the ways of the native people and adapt to them. This creates a rift between the couple. The viewer does get to see the footage of the Hawaii Islands.
