Watch Gates to Paradise

The setting of this film is medieval France, and the reasons children become religious zealots is explored. In 1212, children join the Crusades after Jakob has a vision. However, it is later revealed that the children are not religious, but join the fight because they were rejected. A cry for attention seemingly was cloaked in religious fervor.
