Friday Night Death Slot is a horror-comedy film that was released in 2015. The movie stars John Migliore, Andre Guantanamo, and Deborah Jayne Reilly Smith. Directed by Michael Ramova, it tells the story of a group of low-budget cable TV programmers who are tasked with creating content for a desperate network. The movie takes place in Toronto, where a cable TV station named Channel 13 employs a team of misfits to run its programming. The station is struggling to stay afloat and is facing intense competition from other channels. In an attempt to boost its ratings, Channel 13 decides to launch a new show called Friday Night Death Slot, which will feature horror movies that are so bad they are good.
The team responsible for producing the show is made up of a motley crew of TV professionals. The leader of the group is a grizzled veteran named Chuck (John Migliore), who is obsessed with horror movies and is convinced that he can turn Channel 13's fortunes around. His team includes the plucky intern, Bex (Deborah Jayne Reilly Smith), who is determined to prove herself; the hapless soundman, Dave (Andre Guantanamo), who dreams of becoming a Hollywood superstar one day; and the office manager, Tracy (Carmine Giordano), who is skeptical of the whole project.
To ensure that Friday Night Death Slot is a success, Chuck and his team scour the city for the worst horror movies they can find. They stumble upon a mysterious filmmaker named Balthazar Kane (Mark Courneyea), who has a reputation for making movies that are so bad they are unwatchable. Chuck convinces Balthazar to give him one of his movies to air on Friday Night Death Slot, hoping to use it to boost the channel's ratings.
As the team prepares to broadcast Balthazar's movie, strange things begin to happen at the TV station. The crew members start to disappear one by one, and it becomes clear that something sinister is going on behind the scenes. It soon becomes apparent that Balthazar's movie is not just bad, but it's also cursed. It seems to be unleashing a supernatural force that is threatening to destroy everyone involved in Friday Night Death Slot.
The movie is a fun and witty take on the horror genre, and it features some great performances from its cast. John Migliore, in particular, is excellent as Chuck, the grizzled horror movie veteran who refuses to give up on his dreams. The movie also benefits from its low budget aesthetic, which adds to its charm and makes it feel like a throwback to the B-movies of the 80s.
Friday Night Death Slot is a movie that will appeal to horror fans who appreciate a good scare, but also enjoy some humor with their horror. It's a unique and entertaining take on the genre, and it's well worth checking out.
