As a big fan of horror movies, I was really excited to watch Exorcism of the 7th Demon, released in 2017. The movie is directed by John Reign, who has already proven his talent in the genre with his previous works. The cast includes Brandy Reign as Sarah, Jason Howell as Father Bishop, and Dawn Maxwell as Rose. Without giving too much away, here is a brief description of the horror flick.
Exorcism of the 7th Demon starts off with an eerie scene of a young woman, Sarah, digging a hole in the middle of a remote forest. The audience soon discovers that she is performing a ritual to summon a demon - Azazel - in order to rid herself of a demonic curse that she has been carrying since she was a child. The attempt is successful, but it also opens up new doors of danger and horror.
The story then shifts to Father Bishop who is called to perform an exorcism on Sarah after her family becomes concerned for her safety. When he arrives, he finds that Sarah is not the only one who is possessed by the demon; her entire family has been affected. As Father Bishop begins the exorcism, he discovers that there are seven demons inside Sarah, and they are more powerful than anything he has ever seen before.
From here on, Exorcism of the 7th Demon becomes a spine-chilling horror movie that will keep you on the edge of your seat for the entire duration. The exorcism scenes are intense and realistic, augmented by amazing special effects that will make you want to look away but keep your attention nonetheless.
Brandy Reign plays Sarah with incredible depth, portraying the character's struggles and pain with variation and nuance. Her performance is impressively convincing and makes an already terrifying movie even scarier. Jason Howell as Father Bishop also delivers a great performance, highlighting his character's vulnerability and determination in equal parts. He brings a certain gravitas to the role, making his portrayal of a priest who is battling demons more believable.
Dawn Maxwell as Rose, Sarah's sister, also does a fantastic job in her role. As the one who initially reaches out to Father Bishop for help, she shows a great range of emotions effortlessly, providing an anchor to the story when the exorcism scenes become too intense.
Aside from the superb performances, the visuals and sound effects of Exorcism of the 7th Demon are also very well done. The special effects are not overdone or cheesy, but rather add to the eerie atmosphere of the movie. The lighting and makeup give off a haunting feel that really gets under the skin.
Overall, Exorcism of the 7th Demon is a haunting, well-acted movie that delivers all the chills and thrills one could expect from a good horror movie. The storyline is original, and the screenplay is well-written, ensuring that the viewer is kept in suspense right until the very end. Without revealing too much, the ending leaves a bit of ambiguity that will leave you thinking long after you've watched it. I highly recommend this movie to anyone who loves horror, demons, and exorcisms.
