Peaches O'Day, a quick?witted con artist, dodges the law with help from Captain McCarey, who must arrest her unless she leaves town. After reinventing herself as Mademoiselle Fifi, she returns to New York and draws the ire of corrupt mayoral candidate John Quade after rejecting his advances.
