First Sunday is a 2008 comedy crime film directed by David E. Talbert and starring Ice Cube and Tracy Morgan. The movie follows two got luck ex-convicts, Durell (Ice Cube) and LeeJohn (Tracy Morgan), who are in desperate need of money to save Durell's ex-girlfriend's house from foreclosure. Desperate to come up with the money, Durell and LeeJohn decide to rob the church across the street from Omunique's house. On a Sunday, they sneak inside the church, but the alarm goes off, and they are caught by the pastor, Rev. Charles (Chi McBride). Rev. Charles gives them a chance to redeem themselves, but only if they confess their sins and help the church's congregation raise the money they need to keep the church open.
Durell and LeeJohn reluctantly agree and soon find themselves involved in a series of comedic mishaps as they try to raise the money. They organize a talent show to raise the money, but all the acts they recruit (including a T-Pain lookalike and an aspiring performer who sings "Ave Maria" in drag) are terrible. They also get into trouble with the church's loan shark, Big Black (Keith David), who threatens to break their legs if they do not pay.
The duo's only hope is to rob Raymond's mansion, which they believe is filled with valuable paintings and other valuable items. They break into the house, but they do not find what they were looking for. While they are still inside the house, they overhear a conversation between Raymond and a police officer, which reveals that Raymond is laundering money. They decide to steal the money, only to be caught by Raymond, who threatens to kill them.
In a thrilling climax, Durell and LeeJohn manage to steal the money, but they are chased by Raymond and the police. They make a dramatic getaway and escape through a tunnel that leads directly into the church. They hand over the money they stole to Rev. Charles, who agrees to pay off the mortgage on Omunique's house.
In the end, Durell and LeeJohn celebrate their newfound friendship and their newly acquired sense of justice. Omunique is grateful to Durell for saving her house, and they kiss, hinting at a possible reconciliation between them.
