John is a Vietnam veteran who is making ends meet in California working on the salt flats and living in a small home with his girlfriend, Belinda. John is African-American and Belinda white, which does not seem to be a problem until the daughter John fathered in Vietnam appears on their doorstep. Despite being the one who asks Ming to stay, Belinda soon moves out as tensions rise between the long last father and daughter. Both John and Ming realize the only way to resolve their problems is to resolver the issues both have with their race.
