Digimon Adventure tri.: Determination is a 2016 Japanese anime film directed by Keitaro Motonaga and produced by Toei Animation. This movie is the second installment of the Digimon Adventure tri. series, which is a continuation of the original Digimon anime series. The film takes place three years after the events of the first movie, Digimon Adventure tri.: Reunion. The story follows the main characters of the series, Tai, Matt, Sora, Izzy, Mimi, Joe, T.K., and Kari, as they reunite with their Digimon partners and face a new threat emerging in the Digital World.
The movie begins with the group of DigiDestined members preparing for a school festival. However, their plans are interrupted when the Digital World begins to show signs of instability, and many Digimon begin to devolve into their rookie forms. The DigiDestined soon discover that the cause of this disturbance is a mysterious virus that is corrupting the Digital World.
As the DigiDestined investigate the virus, they encounter a group of Digimon who have been infected and controlled by it. The Digimon are led by a corrupted version of Tai's former partner, Greymon, who now goes by the name of "ChaosGreymon." ChaosGreymon is a powerful enemy and proves to be a dangerous adversary for the DigiDestined.
As the group tries to figure out how to stop the virus and defeat ChaosGreymon, they are helped by a new character named Meiko Mochizuki, a quiet and reserved girl who has a Digimon partner named Meicoomon. Meiko and Meicoomon are suspicious characters, as they seem to be connected to the virus outbreak in some way, but it soon becomes clear that they are on the side of the DigiDestined.
Throughout the movie, the themes of friendship, loyalty, and fighting for what's right are explored as the DigiDestined fight to protect the Digital World from the virus and ChaosGreymon. The movie also delves deeper into the characters' personal lives and relationships, especially with the addition of Meiko.
The animation in Digimon Adventure tri.: Determination is visually stunning, with colorful and detailed landscapes, vibrant action sequences, and well-designed Digimon characters. The voice acting is well done, with the original Japanese voice cast returning to their respective roles, bringing the characters to life with their distinct personalities and emotions.
The music in the movie is another highlight, with an epic and catchy soundtrack that perfectly complements the tone and pacing of the movie. The opening theme song "Butter-Fly ~tri. Version~" is a remix of the original Digimon theme song and is a nostalgic throwback for longtime fans of the series.
In conclusion, Digimon Adventure tri.: Determination is an exciting and engaging action anime movie that is sure to please fans of the original Digimon series. With its well-crafted storyline, relatable characters, and gorgeous animation, it is a must-watch for anyone who grew up with the franchise or anyone looking for a thrilling and heartwarming adventure.
